Report on Debate Competition



Under social awareness club, Department of BBA organized a Debate Competition for BBA-I Semester students with the following objectives:
Objectives:
To provide students with the opportunity to think critically & develop their academic research skills.
To provide a platform to the students to improve the communication abilities, solve problems creatively, and increase their self-confidence.
To encourage the students to showcase their analytical thinking.Debate is a method of interactive and representational argument. The outcome of a debate depends upon consensus or some formal way of reaching a resolution, rather than the objective facts as such. The debate competition was carried out by BBA department and it majorly aimed at getting the views of the students, for and against the motion on two topics "Does money motivates people more than any other factor in the workplace" and "Is Indian consumer Quality conscious". Students participated in a team of two members, one in favor of the motion and the other in against of the motion. There was a time limit of 8 minutes allotted to each team.  In total eight teams participated in the activity. The students gave very well-reasoned arguments to support their views. Overall it was a great event and was very well organized.The event was organized by Ms. Deepti Kapoor (Faculty – Management) under the guidance of Mr. Mayank Sharma (Program Incharge – BBA Ist year). The judges for the event were Ms Sonia Dhir (Faculty – Management) and Ms. Shreshtha Dabral (Faculty – Management). They evaluated the students on the parameters of content, supporting examples, argumentation, body language and presentation. It was quite difficult to decide the best among all. Finally on the basis of evaluation, the winners of the competition were: 

First Position -      Pawas Piyush, BBA IC
Second Position - Shubham Goyal, BBA ID
Third Position -    Anmol, BBA IA
Also the best speaker position in the competition was given to Ayushi Dixit, BBA IDAt the end, the untiring efforts of all the participants were appreciated by Ms. Reenu Bansal (Program Director - BBA) and the winners were awarded with the trophies by Dr. Pawan Gupta (Dean - Academics)
