Legal Awareness Program On Consumer Protection Act
What I'm always trying to say to the consumer is: buy less, choose well, make it last.“Let The Buyer Beware”About the Act: Consumer Protection Act, 1986 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted in 1986 to protect interests of consumers in India. It makes provision for the establishment of consumer councils and other authorities for the settlement of consumers' disputes and for matters connected therewith.With this objective IMS Law College organized legal Consumer awareness programme at Dadri in a Government School , village – Gulawthi Khurd, Ghaziabad on 21/05/15. Students of Final year (Ms Monika Shahi , Ms Divya Gupta) & Fourth year (Ms Soumya Singh ,Ms Shivani Tiwari ,Ms Somya Goel ) participated in this legal awareness program .The event commenced with an introduction that who is a consumer & what are their rights as a consumer? Students explained the whole Act & provisions related to the consumer .Not only the consumer but also the provisions governing the food adulteration were also discussed by them. The program was summarized by Mr G.P.Goyal and concluded remarks were given by Ms Neha Singh (Law Faculty). At the end there was a questionnaire round wherein the students & villagers participated actively & the deserving were awarded. Under the guidance of Dr. Niti Sinha HOD Law, the event was coordinated by Mr Govind Goyal & Ms Neha Singh (Law Faculty) with the cooperation of Bhupender (student of final year) .The event was a great success.
