International Conference on Social media was organized under auspices of IMS NOIDA

The topic for discussion was Emerging Innovations in Social Media and its Implications.The Conference started as scheduled. Following dignitaries were present on the dias.Dr. Kamaljit Singh Executive Director, IMS NOIDA,Prof. B K Kuthiala Chief Guest, VC, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National ,Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Aggarwal Chancellor, KR Mangalam University & Ex. VC ,Mr. Mathieu Jouve Banking & Marketing Professional,Mr. Sarvesh Singh Legal Advisor, Indian Chamber of Commerce,Dr. N K Trikha Advisor, SJMC IMS NOIDA.Seminar Hall was packed to Capacity. Various delegates & International students were present. The programme of Inaugural Session commenced with lighting of traditional lamp by Guests before Goddess Saraswati. A Bharatanatyam performance seeking blessings from Lord Ganesha & Goddess Saraswati was presented by two girl students (Kritika & Raveena, BJMC, which left the audience & spectators dumb struck). Programme was convened by Ms. Anjum Hassan & Dr. Monica Dixit. The guests were welcomed by presentation of Good Luck Plants. A brief introduction to profile of each guest was read out by conveners.A welcome address was given by Dr. Kamaljit Singh, ED, IMS NOIDA who welcomed the guests and audience.Dr. Singh threw light on the topic of Conference, motive behind it. Guests & audience were thrilled to know that it comprised all the four arms of Institution viz. Information Technology as biggest enabler, Journalism & Communication as mode of expression, Management as University of Journalism & Communication, BhopalGGSIPU, Delhi evangelizer and Law as Environment Protector.According to him science and technology has gone far ahead but one should not forget it roots in culture. A revolution has occurred in mode & speed of communication during last 10-15 years switching people from Land Line Phones, Trunk Calls period to mobile day connecting C to C i.e. Community to Community or Customer to Customer.15 Years back he presented a paper on digitization which was unique that time. Now piles of data & lot of information are available causing several problems before usage. The social media is opening fresh avenues before us. Average age of entrepreneurs is lower now to 27 years. Facebook, Twitter & Internet are proving levellers. Concepts of alternative educating sources like IIN are coming up. Now more information is posing serious problems before us.Prof. Dr. KK Agrawal deliberated upon the topic by focusing on the culture of combining various disciplines. A multi-disciplinary approach is lacking in our country. Innovation is some thing to dream even in the day. A person can always do better. He gave an example of shipping Industry where a concept of loading through containers was introduced saving time & money considerably however the world cannot be changed by Scientists or Engineers alone but by the cooperation of social scientists also. He put forward a word of advice that technology will never fail us and one can generate money & improve life out of knowledge.speaker Mr. Mathieu Jouve with rich banking & marketing experience presented his PPT 3RDon. Wedge Consulting – Market Entry. He presented several data & figures showing urban/rural population using internet and mobile in India Rate of Growth active social and mobile accounts. He explained the use of Social Media for market entry specially in India which has diverse culture, language & behavior in her population. Social media not only helps to reach the population but to connect also.Professor B K Kuthiala showed his concern about the changing world which is gradually turning into www world Rate of changes in social media is very high. Rate of growth is exponential. Non-biological intelligence is taking over bio-intelligence in WWW struck society. Even science fiction writers are lagging behind to predict implications of innovations. Such trends need regulating & containing them. To cope up with WWW based life a philosophical look is required. Dr. Kuthiala quoted Boddha Monk Nagarjun of 6theverything is connected to other and everything depends on other in Universe. It is like Indrajaal where all jewels are interconnected. Now is the time to go back into evolutionary process of human race, One should learn to hear sounds of rain drops, fall of tree leaves, wind, clouds and other human beings. Technology should be leveler or equalizer.An Innovation centre INCU-BAY was inaugurated at IMS. This will entertain all innovative views/ideas from all sections of students. The audience applauded the move cheerfully.Mr. Sarvesh Singh, Legal Council Advisor, Indian Chamber of Commerce, explained the latin maxim ignorantia juris non-excusat & fundamental right of freedom of speech & expression, right to life & liberty given to people in Constitution of India under Art 19/21. In context of contrary (Patitvaspadh) meaning social media, he quoted a case Shreya Singhal V Union of India & few provisions of IT Act 2000 where people committing offence under IT Act or other cyber crimes through social media are punishable.His speech was followed by 2 presentations, By Mr. Ravi Shankar of School of Excellence & Law who highlighted the threat of how fake internet accounts and social media may be posing and how these may be exploited to scandalize as well as to democratize people. Dr. Alok Gupta’s paper (Read by Ms. Pratika Singh Chouhan) ‘Role of Social Media in Disaster Management’. He highlighted the use of social media for Relief Operations as in Uttrakhand’s devastation & for social movement (Nirbhay’s Rape case). It was followed by speech of Shri R Rajendra Prabhu – Senior Journalist, IT & Science & Tech export. Mr Prabhu narrated how the introduction of computers & it WAS INITIALLLY OPPOSED BY Dept. of Railways & how it came into picture creating a revolutionary change. He presented the concept of Quantum Computing which may revolutionise Banking, Communication and transform political, social & educational scenario. A Good teacher can teach the entire world through social media. It can even eliminate present jails & prisons by replacing them with reform clinics. Prisons cannot change the people.He also focused on customized products to meet individual needs & satisfaction. One cannot rest on past and everyone will have to re-invent. He quoted the saying of CEO of Spanish Bank ‘There is no sector that wont be touched by Digital World’. Now pictures are replacing words. Energy sources are changing. He concluded his speech by saying that Happiness comes from within, from inner satisfaction.Mr. Shikhir Gupta – Head- Digital Marketing Videocon, gave introduction of Digital Marketing. Internet & Social media can be a boon or bane for a country. It gives hope to nation, it can create a brand and it can lead to massive distruction also. He presented his PPT that showed why dinosaurs vanished from world scene. The basic reason was their non-
adaptability to changes, on the other hand cockroaches survived due to their adaptability to changes in environment.[The session concluded with a vote of thanks to speakers & others by Ms. Niti Sinha HOD Law Dept.]Parallel to it Technical Session II was conducted in Board Room D Block where a number of students & faculties both at national and international level expressed their views on the topic of conference.Paper Presentation by. Mr. Navneet Thanvi, JNV University, Jodhpur Mr. Debjani Roy, Research Scholar, West Bengal Mr. Ashish Sharma, JNV University, Jodhpur Dr. Bhavish Gupta, Amity Law School, DelhiAdvocate Ms. Sandhya Kohli expressed her views & thoughts on the problem of growing cyber crimes emerging from social media. She explained various legal provisions which are not capable to curb the menace. She explained credit card frauds, skimming, and phishing. She explained, how internet can penetrate our private lives, Internet may be a boon but may be disastrous if not handled with care.UID may be useful to contain the menace and curb the crime rate.The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. M. Alam, Dean, Dept of Journalism.Second day of the conference started with the warm welcome to the chief guest. Dr. Anirban Basu – M Tech in Comp Sc and to the session chairperson Dr. Mahua Dutta and Dr. Manju Gupta.Technical Session - III started with the presentation of Dr. Manawwar Alam Assoc Dean SJMC- IMS NOIDA, whose focus was on Digital Media strategies in a Political Campaigning and further there were number of speakers including students who presented their ideas as regarding it growth, uses and implications of social media.
